Johnny Mercer died today – 31 years ago

U.S. songwriter Johnny Mercer was born on November 18, 1909 in Savannah, Georgia. He said, “You must have been a beautiful baby, 'Cos baby just look at you now.” {1} [Thanks, Johnny.]... Mr. Mercer died in 1976 in Bel-Air, Los Angeles, California.

Scottish writer Margaret Oliphant Oliphant was born on April 4, 1828 near Musselburgh, East Lothian, Scotland. She said, “Temptations come, as a general rule, when they are sought.” {1} [That could explain a lot.]... Ms. Oliphant died in 1897 in Wimbledon, London, England.

Texas Governor (30th (1925-1927) & 33rd (1933-1935)) Miriam Amanda Wallace "Ma" Ferguson was born on June 13, 1875 in Bell County, Texas. She said, “English was good enough for Jesus Christ and it's good enough for the children of Texas.” {2} [What can I say?]... Ms. Ferguson died in 1961 in Austin, Texas.

French oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau was born on June 11, 1910 in Saint-André-de-Cubzac, Gironde, France. Mr. Cousteau died in 1997 in Paris, France.
