Bob Hope died today – 4 years ago

U.S. comedic actor Bob Hope was born on May 29, 1903 in Eltham, London, England. He said, “You know you're getting old when the candles cost more than the cake." [And the fire insurance keeps rising.]... Mr. Hope died in 2003 in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, California.

English scientist John Dalton was born on September 6, 1766 in Eaglesfield, Cumbria, England. He said, “The anti-tax groups, or those that are against it, put out partial information, and we wanted to find some way of getting accurate information out to all the people,” [Uh-huh!]... Mr. Dalton died in 1844 Manchester, England.

French director William Wyler was born on July 1, 1902 in Mülhausen, Alsace, Germany (now Mulhouse, Haut-Rhin, France). He said, “I made over forty Westerns. I used to lie awake nights trying to think up new ways of getting on and off a horse." [And how many did he devise?... See the movie.]... Mr. Wyler died in 1981 in Los Angeles, California.
