Edmund Burke died today – 210 years ago

English statesman Edmund Burke was born on January 12, 1729 in Dublin, Ireland. He said, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” {1} [And women, too!]... Mr. Burke died in 1797 in Beaconsfield, England.

French writer Georges Bataille was born on September 16, 1897 in Billom, Puy-de-Dôme, France. He said, “To place oneself in the position of God is painful: being God is equivalent to being tortured. For being God means that one is in harmony with all that is, including the worst. The existence of the worst evils is unimaginable unless God willed them.” {1} [This ought to get your attention.]... Mr. Bataille died in 1962 in Paris, France.

California Governor (1943-1953) and U.S. Supreme Court member (1953-1969) Earl Warren was born on March 19, 1891 in Los Angeles, California. He said, “To get what you want, STOP doing what isn't working.” {1} [But what do I do?]... Mr. Warren died in 1974 in Washington, D.C.

U.S. writer Loren Corey Eiseley was born on September 3, 1907 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He said, “One could not pluck a flower without troubling a star.” {1} [Stars are just sooo touchy!]... Mr. Eiseley died in 1977 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
