Dizzy Gillespie died today – 15 years ago

U.S. trumpeter John Birks “Dizzy” Gillespie was born on October 21, 1917 in Cheraw, South Carolina. He said, “They're not particular about whether you're playing a flatted fifth or a ruptured 129th as long as they can dance to it.” [I've probably had a few of those.]... Mr. Gillespie died in 1993 in Englewood, New Jersey.
