H.L. Mencken died today – 52 years ago

U.S. writer (and great wit) Henry Louis Mencken was born on September 12, 1880 in Baltimore, Maryland.



He said, “Whenever you hear a man speak of his love for his country, it is a sign that he expects to be paid for it." [There is a speaking fee, you know.]... Mr. Mencken died in 1956 in Baltimore, Maryland.
