Artist Mark Rothko was born as Marcus Rothkowitz on September 25, 1903 in Daugavpils, Latvia. He said, “There is no such thing as good painting about nothing." [And there’s plenty of nothing out there.]... Mr. Rothko died on February 25, 1970 in New York City, New York.
