Ayn Rand was born as Alisa Zinov'yevna Rosenbaum on February 2, 1905 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. She wrote the novels The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. She also wrote the books The Virtue of Selfishness: A New Concept of Egoism and Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal. Ms. Rand died on March 6, 1982 in New York City, New York.
