Nathaniel Branden was born as Nathan Blumenthal on April 9, 1930 in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. As an associate of Ayn Rand, he helped to promote the philosophy of Objectivism. With Ayn Rand, he co-wrote the books The Virtue of Selfishness: A New Concept of Egoism and Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal. He wrote the books The Psychology of Self-Esteem and The Disowned Self.
