Oscars Go Green - Oh, Really?

It was reported that last night's Academy Awards Show - the Oscars - went green. The stars walked a green carpet rather than a red one. Big deal! They arrived in the Tesla. But did they carpool? There was plenty of electricity consumption, with the bright lights, loud music, silly antics of Ellen, and the seemingly never-ending show. What hypocrits.

If they really wanted to make a change, they would start a campaign to stop building roads, so that mass transit became more desirable. As long as there are more and more roads, people will not give up their cars. It's just too convenient.

Government Licensing - Absurdity & Invalidity of

Think about it. All government licensing standards are arbitrary. They may seem reasonable, but they are still arbitrary - and invalid. To be valid, those setting the "standards" would have to be licensed by someone else ... ad infinitum... What's the alternative? Voluntary organizations that set their own standards and certify member-practitioners that follow them. Because of competition among different organizations, the best and most optimum standards would be developed, followed, and accepted by people.

Be Careful with Group Emails

I was locked out (and still am as of this writing) of sending email on Gmail last night. The message I got today said, “Our system indicates unusual usage of your account. In order to protect Gmail users from potentially harmful use of Gmail, this account has been disabled for up to 24 hours.” It happened after I sent a group email where a list of email accounts can be sent all at once. A lot of the entries were returned as not being deliverable. As far as I remember, I used them a few weeks ago and things were fine. I suspect that the email accounts had been closed since they were for media contacts. Perhaps they were tired of hearing from a lot of people. I don’t really know. I have since deleted all of the contacts, since they were not valid anymore. So much for contacting the media.

If this has happened to anyone else, please share.

Carnage on Government Roads

When will people have had enough of the deaths and destruction occurring on government roads. The cargo being shipped on the huge trucks (some several "trucks" long) could be on trains, if governments hadn't destroyed the trains by taxing money to continually build more and more roads. Trucks have been racing to make up time lost due to snow/ice storms. Just in on CNN was a fiery collision in N.C. Such waste.

In Memory of Anna Nicole Smith

Yes, Anna Nicole Smith was vacuous and did silly things. But you have to give her credit for at least one thing: she had integrity. She was not a hypocrite. She lived what she talked. She did not have a "church" to preach one thing, then sneak around and do something else. (Does Ted Haggard come to mind?) Integrity is worth a lot. So for that, we'll miss you, Anna.
