TV host (of The Merv Griffin Show) and TV show creator (of Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune) Mervyn Edward “Merv” Griffin Jr. was born on July 6, 1925 in San Mateo, California. He said, “Las Vegas without Wayne Newton is like Disneyland without Mickey Mouse.” [He needed to get out more.]... Mr. Griffin died on August 12, 2007 in Los Angeles, California.
