Singer and actor (of and in Deep in the Heart of Texas) Tex Ritter was born as Woodward Maurice Ritter on January 12, 1905 in Murvaul, Texas. He was the father of John Ritter. Mr. Tex Ritter died on January 2, 1974 in Nashville, Tennessee.
