Nathaniel Hawthorne was born as Nathaniel Hathorne on July 4, 1804 in Salem, Massachusetts. He wrote the novels The Scarlet Letter and The House of the Seven Gables. Mr. Hawthorne died on May 19, 1864 in Plymouth, New Hampshire.
