Stephen Jay Gould was born on September 10, 1941 in Queens, New York City, New York. He co-proposed the theory of punctuated equilibrium. He wrote the books The Panda’s Thumb and Wonderful Life. Mr. Gould died on May 20, 2002 in Manhattan, New York City, New York.
