Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamus was born on October 27, 1466 or 1469 as Gerrit Gerritszoon or Herasmus Gerritszoon in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He wrote the book The Praise of Folly. Mr. Erasmus died on July 12, 1536 in Basel, Switzerland.
