Jim Backus was born on February 25, 1913 as James Gilmore Backus in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the voice of "Mr. Magoo". He acted as “Thurston Howell, III” in the TV sitcom Gilligan’s Island. Mr. Backus died on July 3, 1989 in Los Angeles, California.
