Pianist and actor (in Rhapsody in Blue) Oscar Levant was born on December 27, 1906 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He said, “Strip away the phony tinsel of Hollywood and you will find the real tinsel underneath.” [At least something's real out there.]... Mr. Levant died on August 14, 1972 in Beverly Hills, California.
