Albert Schweitzer died today – 42 years ago

Philosopher and physician – and generally all-around great guy - Albert Schweitzer was born on January 14, 1875 in Kaisersberg, Alsace-Lorraine. He said, “There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats." [I LOVE them both!]... Mr. Schweitzer died in 1965 in Lambaréné, Gabon, Africa.

French writer Marcel Achard was born as Marcel-Auguste Ferréol on July 5, 1899 in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon, France. He said, “The bedfellows politics made are never strange. It only seems that way to those who have not watched the courtship." [Interesting theory.]... Mr. Achard died in 1974 in Paris, France.

German-born economist E.F. Schumacher was born as Ernst Friedrich Schumacher on August 16, 1911 in Bonn, Germany. He said, “Many people love in themselves what they hate in others." [You can’t have too much of a good thing. (Watch how you interpret that.)]... Mr. Schumacher died in 1977 in Switzerland.
