Dr. Lee deForest died today – 46 years ago

U.S. inventor Dr. Lee deForest was born on August 26, 1873 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He said, “While theoretically and technically television may be feasible, commercially and financially it is an impossibility.” {1} [Well, some doctors don’t know everything!]... Dr. deForest died in 1961 in Hollywood, California.

English writer Margery Louise Allingham was born on May 20, 1904 in Ealing, London, England. She said, “If one cannot command attention by one's admirable qualities, one can at least be a nuisance.” {2} [Attention is attention is attention.]... Ms. Allingham died in 1966 in Colchester, England.

English writer Nancy Mitford was born on November 28, 1904 in Belgravia, London. She said, “An aristocracy in a republic is like a chicken whose head has been cut off; it may run about in a lively way, but in fact it is dead.” {1} [That may explain a lot of things.]... Ms. Mitford died in 1973 in Versailles, France.

U.S. comic Buddy Hackett was born as Leonard Hacker on August 31, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York. He said, “I've had a few arguments with people, but I never carry a grudge. You know why?
