Educator Horace Mann was born on May 4, 1796 in Franklin, Massachusetts. He said, “Education, then, beyond all other devices of human origin, is the great equalizer of the conditions of men—the balance-wheel of the social machinery." [How exactly does acquiring more knowledge lead to equalizing anything?]... Mr. Mann died on August 2, 1859 in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
