Esther Phillips was born on December 23, 1935 as Esther Mae Jones in Galveston, Texas. She sang the song “And I Love Him” and a disco-style verson of the song What a Diff’rence a Day Made. Ms. Phillips died on August 7, 1984 in Carson, California.
