Isaac Hayes was born on August 20, 1942 as Isaac Lee Hayes, Jr. in Covington, Tennessee. He co-wrote the song Soul Man. He also wrote and sang the song Theme from Shaft. Mr. Hayes died on August 10, 2008 in Memphis, Tennessee.
