Sheb Wooley was born on April 10, 1921 as Shelby F. Wooley in Erick, Oklahoma. He was a singer and songwriter. He wrote and sang the song The Purple People Eater. Mr. Wooley died on September 16, 2003 in Nashville, Tennessee.
