U.S. Senator (Wisconsin, 1957-1989) Edward William Proxmire was born on November 11, 1915 in Lake Forest, Illinois. He said, “Power always has to be kept in check; power exercised in secret, especially under the cloak of national security, is doubly dangerous." [Wow!]... Mr. Proxmire died in 2005 in Sykesville, Maryland.
