Composer (of Rhapsody in Blue and An American in Paris) George Gershwin was born as Jacob Gershowitz on September 26, 1898 in Brooklyn, New York. He said, “Life is a lot like jazz... it's best when you improvise." [So let’s get the freedom to be jazz-y.]... Mr. Gershwin died from brain cancer on July 11, 1937 in Hollywood, California.
