John Wilder Tukey was born on June 16, 1915 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He coined the words “bit” and “software”. Mr. Tukey said, “Far better an approximate answer to the right question, which is often vague, than an exact answer to the wrong question, which can always be made precise.” [OK.]... Mr. Tukey died on July 26, 2000 in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
