Ornithologist, author (of Peterson Field Guides), and developer (of the Peterson Identification System) Roger Tory Peterson was born on August 28, 1908 in Jamestown, New York. He said, "I never saw a bird that I couldn't classify." [Because he developed the system.]... Mr. Peterson died on July 28, 1996 in Old Lyme, Connecticut.
