Author (of “Tarzan of the Apes” (1912), “Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar” (1916), “Tarzan and the City of Gold” (1932), and these) Edgar Rice Burroughs was born on September 1, 1875 in Chicago, Illinois. He said, “I write to escape; to escape poverty." [That’s a very good reason.]... Mr. Burroughs died on March 19, 1950 in Encino, California.

For all the Tarzan and Edgar Rice Burroughs fans out there, there is an annual convention. This year it is being held July 24-27th in Waterloo, IA. The website is http://www.freewebs.com/dumdum2008. Thought you and your readers would like to know! Denny Miller, the oldest living actor to play Tarzan, will be there, too.
