Artist (creating “Sky and Water I”, “Ascending and Descending”, and many other works) Maurits Cornelis Escher was born on June 17, 1898 in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. He said, “Are you really sure that a floor can't also be a ceiling?" [It depends upon which way you’re laying.]... Mr. Escher died on March 27, 1972 in Laren, The Netherlands.
