Economist and author (of “The Economic Consequences of the Peace” (1919) and “The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money” (1936) – critiqued by Henry Hazlitt in “The Failure of the ‘New Economics’” (pdf here)) John Maynard Keynes was born on June 5, 1883 in Cambridge, England. He said, “The best way to destroy the capitalist system is to debauch the currency. By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens." [He got that one right.]... Mr. Keynes died on April 21, 1946 in Tilton, East Sussex, England.
