Activist (for the "Anti-Corn Law League") Richard Cobden was born on June 3, 1804 in Heyshott near Midhurst, in Sussex, England. He said, "The progress of freedom depends more upon the maintenance of peace, the spread of commerce, and the diffusion of education, than upon the labors of cabinets and foreign offices." [Amen!]... Mr. Cobden died on April 2, 1865 in London, England.
