Singer (of “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)” (1965) and “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” (1967)) and songwriter (of “Got to Give It Up” (1977)) Marvin Gaye was born as Marvin Pentz Gaye, Jr. on April 2, 1939 in Washington, D.C. He said, “If you cannot find peace within yourself, you will never find it anywhere else." [But a change of scenery can often help... at least for a while.]... Mr. Gaye died on April 1, 1984 in Los Angeles, California.
