Film producer (of “The Bostonians”, “A Room With A View”, “Howards End”, “Jefferson in Paris”, and many other films) Ismail Merchant was born as Ismail Noormohamed Abdul Rehman on December 25, 1936 in Mumbai, India. He said, “The musicals give emphasis to love, longing, melancholy, sadness. All of that is always there.” [Yup.]... Mr. Merchant died on May 25, 2005 in London, England.
