Actress (in “Der Blaue Engel” (1930), “Morocco” (1930), and many other films) Marlene Dietrich was born as Marie Magdalene Dietrich on December 27, 1901 in Berlin-Schöneberg, Germany. She said, “I was raised almost entirely on turnips and potatoes, but I think that the turnips had more to do with the effect than the potatoes." [So that explains it.]... Ms. Dietrich died on May 6, 1992 in Paris, France.
