Philosopher, economist, and author (of “On Liberty” (1859)) John Stuart Mill was born on May 20, 1806 in Pentonville, London, England. He said, “The general tendency of things throughout the world is to render mediocrity the ascendant power among mankind." [So that explains it.]... Mr. Mill died on May 8, 1873 in Avignon, France.
