Singer, songwriter (of "I'm a Man"), and guitarist Bo Diddley was born as Ellas Otha Bates on December 30, 1928 in McComb, Mississippi. He said, "I opened the door for a lot of people, and they just ran through and left me holding the knob." [It happens.]... Mr. Diddley died on June 2, 2008 in Archer, Florida.
