Microbiologist (developing a polio vaccine) Jonas Edward Salk was born on October 28, 1914 in New York City, New York. He said, “I pictured myself as a virus or a cancer cell and tried to sense what it would be like." [Not too lonely, at times.]... Mr. Salk died on June 23, 1995 in La Jolla, California.
