Author (of “The Gift of the Magi” and “The Ransom of Red Chief”) O. Henry was born as William Sydney Porter on September 11, 1862 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He said, “A straw vote only shows which way the hot air blows." [So wait until the colder winds of November.]... Mr. Henry died on June 5, 1910 in New York City, New York.
