Paul Winchell was born as Pinkus Wilchinski on December 21, 1922 in New York City, New York. Although probably best known as a ventriloquist, he was also an inventor, building an artificial heart. Mr. Winchell said, “Ventriloquism today is in a slump.” [So buy straighter wood.]… Mr. Winchell died on June 24, 2005 in Moorpark, California.
